Which is best, plastic or paper bags?
My conclusion is that it is better to use plastic bags in a reusable situation but if they are for disposal then biodegradable plastic is best.
Today there are excellent biodegradable poop bags for dogs that will help relieve a doggy problem.
I understand several German supermarkets also offer biodegradable bags to their customers which are excellent and do work.
An expensive report commissioned by our Government concluded that a paper bag has a more adverse impact than a plastic bag for most of the environmental issues considered.
MORE:
Areas where paper bags score particularly badly include water consumption, atmospheric acidification (which can have effects on human health, sensitive ecosystems, forest decline and acidification of lakes) and eutrophication of water bodies (which can lead to growth of algae and depletion of oxygen).
Paper bags are anywhere between six to ten times heavier than lightweight plastic carrier bags and, as such, require more transport and its associated costs. They also take up more room in a landfill if they were not recycled.
This item of charging everyone 5p per plastic bag was on the news all day at the BBC. However no discussion, just support for Government policy. Can I remind the BBC that the licence payers pay your wages.
I think we need an investigation into howGovernment policy, even when it is wrong, is now a lead news item. Recently the BBC has tried to get us to bomb Syria.
The BBC tried to destroy a democratic vote in the House of Commons. They have continually claimed that various people have the right to decide on drilling and on fresh water.
None of these claims are accurate.
Only the environment Agency and Defra have these powers. Because of these false claims the BBC almost cause a riot. I can go on but no one is the slightest bit interested in the truth, so why I bother I don’t know. It is just that I believe in democracy and the BBC is trampling the world into the contents of a doggy bag.
