This glorious sun-kissed scene has been named the winner of our summer photograph competition.
Hove mum, Michelle Barrett, was behind the lens – with her daughter Lyla, seven, in front.
Michelle said: “I’m delighted. It’smy birthday today so it’s something of a double celebration.”
The scene shows Lyla walking in a field of poppies just off the A27 on the outskirts of Hove.
In July we asked you to submit photos which summed up what you love about Sussex.

Michelle said: “I chose this photo because of the colour. It was about 4.30pm and you get that lovely white light. But it’s also something people wouldn’t normally associate with Sussex.
People think of the Pier and beach but perhaps don’t think of a beautiful field of poppies.
“I’m a costume designer so photography is just a hobby. I love taking pictures.”
Argus chief photographer and judge, Simon Dack, said he was “overwhelmed”
by the response to the competition: “Every time I went through them I picked a different winner.
“We had a number of lovely poppy scenes, but this was the pick of the bunch.”
Michelle, 41, who lives in the Poet’s Corner area, isn’t the only talented photographer in the family.
Daughter Lyla Barrett-May appeared in The Argus two years ago after winning a junior photography competition. Her winning entry was a simple shot of her mum.
