Three talented young artists from Sussex have made it to the regional final of a competition to design this year’s Christmas stamps.
April-Ann Melly, 11, from Brighton, Molly Robson, seven, from Horsham, and seven-year-old Amy Grace Staples from Bognor all submitted paintings or drawings which answered the question: “What does Christmas mean to you?”
They were named as three of the 140 regional winners in the Royal Mail competition.
They will now go on to the next stage of the contest where local judges will select the top two entries from each region.
The Prince of Wales will then choose his favourite two pictures from the 24 finalists, to be featured on this year’s First and Second class festive stamps.
Brighton’s April-Ann Melly entered a drawing of Father Christmas flying in his sleigh past an evergreen forest with his reindeer.
Royal Mail received over 240,000 pieces of art from children aged between four and 11 throughout the UK.
