Residents are calling on a council to “keep the gap” and protect their homes from flooding.
A petition launched by Liberal Democrats in Worthing is calling on the council to preserve the green gap between Lancing and Shoreham, which they say is under threat by plans to build as many as 1,200 new houses.
Jemima Bland, Lib Dem parliamentary candidate for Worthing East and Shoreham, said it was “madness” to contemplate a new development of this size on a site prone to flooding.
So far 40 residents have signed the petition.
