I feel I must respond to the two letters supporting the building of the Bilingual Primary School on the depot site near Hove Park (The Argus, September 11).
While I appreciate the need for more local schools, this one is a specialist school – not a much-needed, normal infant, junior or senior school.
We are having to put up with increased traffic and parking difficulties outside our house on the main road nearby. There is slower traffic and increased pollution. We are breathing in these fumes and my husband suffers with asthma, which has got worse since an increase in traffic for the Legal & General and Lloyds TSB buildings in The Droveway.
As for another point, there are always incidents at the traffic lights with near-misses caused by vehicles being in the wrong lane and people driving too fast.
There must be another site not in quite such a congested area.

I would like to register my objection to the bilingual Spanish/English school proposed for the Hove depot site.
It is too big for the area, judging by the drawings I have seen, and the number of schoolchildren proposed is too many.
Spanish is available in most schools. There is no particular need for a Spanish/English school.
I gather there are extra spaces at local schools which are not being filled. How can a new school be justified on this basis?
