For the fourth time in as many weeks, I have received a mail shot simply addressed to “Uni students” (using capital letters outlined in red). There is no indication on the envelope as to the sender but the letter inside reveals it comes from Virgin Media.

The letter commences “Dear Students. We hope you are settling in nicely...” and finishes, “Welcome to the neighbourhood. I hope I can make it an even more exciting place to live. Kind Regards, Alan Godfrey, Virgin Media consultant.”

I returned the first two letters to the Virgin Media registered office in Hook, Hants, which is given in tiny print at the base of the letter.

Upon receipt of the third letter, I contacted Alan Godfrey but it appeared he was unable to delete my address from the mailing list.

I consider it an insult for Virgin Media to solicit me with the assumption there are students at my address, and are apparently unable to delete it from their own automatic mailing list.

There may be other people having the same unwanted mail shots sent to them. How do I get my address deleted from this list?
