One parent said: “I thinkmyson has thrived from being part of Firecracker.

He has enjoyed the fact that it is something he is doing without the rest of his family and friends – and in so doing has “grown up” a little bit more. It is, to quote him, “the best thing I’ve ever done in my life”.

Firecracker started after Brighton Dome and Brighton Festival’s learning access and development department and the artistic directors from Hydrocracker considered that there seemed to be a gap in Brighton for a youth theatre that is serious about drama and acting.

The Hydrocracker team are all professional actors working in high calibre productions ranging from The National, Royal Court, Globe and Young Vic to TV work such as Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, Casualty and EastEnders.

It is the skills, experience and ‘know how’ learned from this work that Hydrocracker wants to share with young actors.

Firecracker Youth Theatre members have the opportunity not just to perform and gain experience in the best venues in the city, but also in more unusual spaces.

Firecracker takes place every Monday from September 16 at The Nightingale Theatre, Brighton, for £100 per term for 10 sessions.
