We visited Brighton for the first time and had a very enjoyable holiday, but two issues concern us.
Firstly, bins. Why are the rubbish bins along the seafront of Hove and Brighton so small? And why are there so few of them? Why aren’t the bins provided with seagull-proof flaps? Why are the barbecue disposal bins so small? People are doing the right thing by taking their rubbish to the bins but they soon overflow.
Much larger bins, fitted with seagull-proof flaps, should be provided for both general refuse and recycling.
Our second issue is the filthy state of the seating shelters along the seafront. The perspex is so grimy, one can hardly see through it. They are also in need of some restoration as they are so dilapidated.
Millions of pounds is being spent on the i360, which will attract more tourists and litter, but not enough is being spent on keeping the seafront clean.
