How can the Green Party’s Rob Shepherd say that Green proposals to increase council tax by 200% are just an “internal discussion” (The Argus, August 31) when leaked proposals state quite clearly that the Green member behind the idea has met with both the lead councillor for finance, Leo Littman, and the council’s two most senior finance officers to discuss it?
It would appear the proposals are far more advanced than the Greens are letting on and that one of the two squabbling Green factions is trying to distance itself from it.
Rather than unworkable and unrealistic headline-grabbing ideas from the Greens, local people hit by falling wages, zero-hour contracts, cuts to benefits and rising food costs need a change of government and new leadership on the city council.
