An unauthorised camp of travellers is set to be evicted from Surrenden Field.
Council officers have visited the 30-caravan group at Surrenden Field with the police and applied for a possession order at court yesterday.
An eviction will be carried out as soon as possible if the families do not leave the site voluntarily.
Meanwhile three caravans set up camp yesterday in Wild Park, according to a resident. Christine Morley, of Hollingbury, said: “I noticed at around 4.30pm three vans arriving at the corner of Wild Park.
“The last time it started with just a few and then the rest of them turned up. It’s not fair if you want to walk your dog around the park.”
The group at Surrenden Field arrived from Wild Park days ago leading to criticisms of a “merry-go-round” of travellers moving around the city.
