A ‘borrowed’ garden, a pop-up café and a sound installation will transform a major road.
From September 19, the lawns around St Peter’s Church in Brighton will be revamped to show residents Brighton and Hove City Council’s plans for Valley Gardens.
The proposal for the area between The Level and Palace Pier roundabout will see a complete redesign of infrastructure.
Under plans, traffic would be rerouted with buses running on the west side of the gardens and cars to the east.
There would also be a dedicated cycle and bus lane and a tree-lined avenue.
Valley Gardens is a junction for three major routes into the centre.
Councillor Ian Davey, lead member for transport at Brighton and Hove City Council, said: “We are listening and developing the vision from what people are telling us they would like to see.
“Our aim is to improve the whole of Valley Gardens as a public space so that people can enjoy spending time there.”
