I was saddened when I learnt of the death of Welsh rugby giant Cliff Morgan (pictured below).
Not only was Cliff a magnificent player, he was also a truly great broadcaster and BBC executive.
I last met him when I was commentating at the 1988 Seoul Olympics for the Asian Broadcasting Union television service.
As a Welshman, I was also providing radio pieces for BBC Wales.
On the eve of the opening I walked into the media bar and spotted Cliff quietly enjoying a drink.
Here was my chance to have the perfect opening for BBC Wales.
Cliff gave me a faultless interview that required no editing.
Thus I had the perfect scene-setting piece for BBC Wales to broadcast next morning.
Cliff, the total professional. He even bought me a beer!
They don't make them like that any more.
