The village of Henfield used to have a station on the Steyning line which ran between Brighton and Horsham.
This picture of a northbound train approaching it comes from The Steyning Line Rail Tour by Philip Barnes, an excellent guide published in 2001.
It had the disadvantage of being rather a long way from the centre of Henfield and the main road.
The double track line opened in 1861 and at first was well used. But traffic slowly declined and it closed in 1966.
Much of it is now part of the popular Downs Link used by many cyclists and walkers.
