Talented students from A2 Arts Performing Arts Academy in Hove have been chosen to take part in Dance Proms, a major international dance showcase at the Royal Albert Hall.

The A2 Arts dancers, who are aged between 13 and 19, will join 24 other dance acts and celebrity dancers on stage at the third annual Dance Proms on the November 3.

The A2 Arts dance piece is called TNT and it is the second time that A2 Arts have had success with the group.

The teenage dancers won a Gold Medal at The Dance World Cup in 2012 and were chosen to perform at the Brighton and Hove Olympic torch ceremony.

Marnie Wallis, A2 Arts headteacher, said: “A2 Arts are honoured to have been chosen for a second year to performat this iconic venue in this amazing celebration of dance. This spectacular event at the Royal Albert Hall is an inspiring and incredible life experience for the students and their teachers that they will stay with them forever”.

Darcey Bussell CBE, Patron of Dance Proms and President of the Royal Academy of Dance, said: “It’s so important young talent has a chance to see what other talented people are doing at this national event.

“I know from my own experience how important it is to see what your peers are up to while you’re training.

For a student, performing at the Royal Albert Hall is out of this world. They learn so much and it will affect them for the rest of their lives.”

To qualify for the event, dance teachers submitted short dance pieces that were judged by a panel of artistic directors and senior examiners from the world of dance. An online public vote took place during June to find the final act to join the Dance Proms Company which features some of the best youth dance talent from the UK, Italy, Belgium and New Zealand.

Dance Proms is a globally renowned dance event that is supported by dozens of top names from the dance world. Patrons include Darcey Bussell CBE, Len Goodman and Arlene Phillips CBE.

Tickets to Dance Proms are on sale from £12 (+ booking fee) through the Royal Albert Hall Box Office on 0845 401 5045 and website: www.royalalberthall.
