What a difference a day makes.

While hundreds flocked to the beach on Thursday, it was a different story yesterday, when there was hardly a soul to be seen.

However, it is not all doom and gloom for beach-goers.

Sunday’s forecast consists of sunny intervals with temperatures peaking at 17C before the return of heavy rain on Monday.

Rosie James, 34, of Lansdowne Square in Hove, said: “It looks like the summer is definitely over. Today the weather has been awful. I walk my dog on the seafront and it was empty both times I went out.

“Can’t really complain though, it has been a fantastic summer in Brighton.”
