The last time we had roadworks to repair potholes on the A259 between Newhaven and Seaford we incurred massive delays with enormous inconvenience and stress to local residents.

I complained to the local highways department and was told the next work would be carried out in the evenings (which it was).

Now, a few months on, yet again, some clever, well-paid decision-maker (paid for with our taxes) has commissioned three days of daytime works.

This causes grief, stress and frustration to residents and the business community, who have to endure ridiculous delays driving through the area.

The solution is simple (and a no-brainer): carry out roadworks of this nature on busy sections of road in the evening.

Whatever happened to common sense?
