I was amazed to read about accidents in schools involving children which are being used to claim compensation (The Argus, September 2).

Years ago we would have regarded such incidents as part of life’s rough and tumble .

Children need to learn what happens when they do certain things, especially when they have been told not to.

We all should know that all actions have consequences.

The human being is born with a head and a brain. When did we stop being responsible for ourselves? Can’t we look where we put our feet?

If someone spots an accident waiting to happen (uneven paths, overgrown shrubbery, loose utility inspection plates, etc) don’t they have a responsibility to report the problem?

It may save a problem for another member of the public.

Save the money being spent on compensation and spend it on the NHS, education and public services. It is, after all, our money that is being wasted and misused.
