A professional singer has made it into the final pick of choirmaster Gareth Malone’s latest project.
Fraser Moyle, 24, of Littlehampton was selected as a baritone for chart-topping Mr Malone’s brand new choir, Gareth Malone’s Voices, following a nationwide search earlier this year for accomplished young singers.
Mr Malone is probably best known for his success in achieving a number one single and album with the Military Wives at Christmas 2011, as well as receiving royal recognition in the form of an OBE.
His popular BBC show The Choir has seen him take novice singers to levels of unprecedented success in the charts and encouraged people all over the country to take up community singing.
The new album, called Voices, is performed by singers aged from 18 to 27 and includes guest vocal performances from stars including Lianne Le Havas, Amber Le Bon and Fyfe Dangerfield from Guillemots.
It is hoped it will inspire the next generation of singers by developing a completely new style and for choirs.
Renowned music producer David Kosten, who has worked with artists such as Everything Everything, Bat for Lashes and Guillemots, has teamed up with Mr Malone to produce Voices.
Together, they have created a compilation of songs which mix choral textures with innovative and contemporary recording techniques.
Full disclosure of the repertoire is being kept under wraps, but the public can expect new arrangements of modern classics including hits from the likes of Alicia Keys and Fleet Foxes.
The first music to emerge from the album has already caused a stir after Mr Malone posted Voices’ rendition of Guillotine from US hip-hop group Death Grips on Soundcloud.
The album is set to be released on November 4.
