Since moving to Brighton last year, my wife and I have enjoyed life here immensely. We are very happy.

One thing I have noticed is young people having to dive or jump off seafront groynes and into shallow water, known as “tombstoning”, causing concern for their safety.

Some other resorts have good, double-height diving boards, spring boards and ladders on diving platforms anchored off the shore.

In this way you can swim out to it and have fun jumping and diving off. Not only is this quite cool to do, it’s great to look at from the beach.

This would add to the tourist experience of Brighton and Hove being a fun place and possibly expose us to the national media with more money being spent in bars and restaurants. It would look good lit up at night, too.

Most of all, a diving platform would create a safer place for people to do this without hurting themselves.

It could be towed into Brighton Marina during periods of bad weather. There could be two platforms – one either side of the Palace Pier.

I’m sure this would bring credibility to Brighton and Hove.

The council should look into this. Perhaps it could run a competition to find a good design.
