The Brighton and Hove Women's Institute is looking for a new home for its erotic writing workshops, life drawing and beer tasting sessions.
Emma Whittaker, who has been involved with the Brighton Belles group since its inception four years ago, is appealing to Argus readers for help.
She explained that they currently hold meetings at different pubs around the city, with hire prices taken away from their fundraisingtotal.
She said: “It’s frustrating when we turn up and get told ‘sorry girls the football is on tonight’.
“We just want somewhere which is big enough for us to hold meetings once a month. It could be a community space, cafe or hall.
“We would be very appreciative and it would help us to continue to raise money for a good cause.”
The branch’s chosen charity is the Argus Achievement Award-nominated domestic violence group RISE.
The branch has some 30 regular members who meetonce a month. While proudly continuing with many of the Institute’s traditional activities such as knitting and cake decorating, they also like to do things a little differently.
Ms Whittaker said: “We’ve done Tarot card reading, cocktail making and makeup sessions.
“Recently our erotic writing workshop was very popular along with the life drawing. We had to get a female model the second time because there was a lot of giggling.
“Our next meeting will be beer tasting with the Dark Star Brewery. That should be good fun.
The group also attend a number of community events throughout the year to promote the organisation and find raise.
Recently they were at both Pride and a tattoo convention. She added: “It’s nice to know every month you can go out with your friends and have a good time.
“It is particularly good for those who have just moved to the area.
“We just need a new home now. We have tried the likes of the Salvation Army but we like to have a drink so they weren’t keen.
“We would love to hear from anybody. They would be doing us a huge favour.”
