In late 2011, I contacted Southern Water about a low-user tariff for single persons but was told no such tariff existed.
When I requested a water meter in early 2012, Southern Water informed me there was a planned schedule to fit them to all homes in my area shortly, so I should wait.
In the end, it was virtually autumn 2012 when my water meter was fitted.
Imagine the sense of betrayal when I received a letter this spring telling me that my water meter had just been switched on.
Had Southern Water charged for actual usage, I would of course be due a good rebate.
As I understand it, a water meter is effectively βonβ as soon as it is fitted.
It seems Southern Water waited more than six months before billing me by the meter, not withstanding my request for a meter some 12 months earlier.
Curiously, Southern Water now tells me it has no record of my earlier water meter request...
