Would you Adam and Eve it? Jesus and his 12 disciples took to the beach at Brighton yesterday for a modern day version of feeding the 5,000.
However instead of handing out loaves and fishes, they were offering thousands of free tuna, prawn and salmon sandwiches.
The group, dressed in 1st Century Palestinian costume, are all members of the Bible Society, which organised the stunt.
A spokeswoman said: “If Jesus was here today, he would be at places like Brighton beach, generously sharing his message, with everyone – regardless of who they are or where they come from.
“This event is a contemporary re-telling of him doing just that – Feeding the 5,000.
“We think the Bible is ace: more than a book, a wonderful, powerful story worth exploring, living and sharing.
“Handing out sandwiches on the beach is one way we’re trying to bring a famous Bible story alive for the 21st century.”
