A teenager is fighting for her life after being hit by a car.
The 19-year-old suffered serious head and neck injuries following a collision with a blue Citroen C3 at 0.20am this morning in Marine Parade, Brighton, close to Sussex Square.
The girl was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, before being moved to the specialist head injury centre at Hurstwood Park Neurosciences Centre in Haywards heath.
An 18-year-old female friend of the injured girl was also taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, with minor injuries and observation.
The driver of the car, a 19-year-old local woman, and her passenger were uninjured in the crash and treated for shock at the scene.
Anyone with information is asked to call Sussex Police on 101 quoting reference to Operation Stansfield.
