1... High Pressure Nights with Rory Phillips
Green Door Store, Trafalgar Street Arches, Brighton, Friday, August 30
By all accounts Rory Phillips’ (pictured) last set in Brighton, at the 2011 Great Escape, was one for the scrapbook and now High Pressure Nights have brought him back to see if he can repeat the trick.
Formerly best-known as Erol Alkan’s partner at London club The End’s renowned night Trash, Phillips has now taken the reins on Trash’s successor Durr on his own.
His remix work includes Scissor Sisters, Digitalism and coincidentally Units, the band whose track High Pressure Days inspired this club night’s name.

2... One Love Festival After Party
World’s End, London Road, Brighton, Friday, August 30
The guys from the UK’s number one reggae and dub festival have manufactured an excuse to keep their party going, despite One Love ending nearly two weeks ago.
For this outrageously late afterparty they’ve invited the gabble of Brighton reggae and dub selectors, producers and artists known as Unity Hi Fi.

3... Stanton Warriors
Concorde 2, Madeira Drive, Brighton, Friday, August 30
Long-running club night Supercharged plays host to one of the biggest names in bass music, the Bristol breakbeat Stanton Warriors. Dominic Butler and Mark Yardley are still pushing the boundaries of their genre despite their veteran status.
Second on a nostalgic bill are breakbeat pioneers Plump DJs, whose collaborative works reads like a who’s-who of crossover dance music and includes Deadmau5, Mark Ronson and Moby to name a few. Yoshi P completes room one, while room two sees Primitive People, Mr Selfish, Ovadrive and Strelaman back-to-back, TSUUL and Tom Somerville on the decks.

5... Audio Presents Alexis Raphael
Audio, Marine Parade, Brighton, Saturday, August 31
The Camden native house producer and DJ Alexis Raphael made an effort to become a member of normal society, even completing an economic degree but ultimately found the allure of music too strong.
Now with releases on Hot Creations and Lower East, plus his own residency at London Sunday party Creche, you’d be hard-pressed to argue Raphael made the wrong choice.
