Armed police rushed to a suburban close after a man was seen standing in the street with a gun.
Sussex Police officers were called to Selsby Court near Daynes Way, Burgess Hill, at just before 2.30am on Sunday morning to reports that a car was being smashed up and someone had a gun.
A 21-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and a 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of threats to kill, criminal damage and actual bodily harm.
Further inquiries led to the arrest of a 20-year-old man on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, a 26-year-old woman on suspicion of criminal damage and a 24-year-old man on suspicion of possession of cocaine while a search of a nearby property uncovered a BB gun.
