A woman is fighting for her life after being struck by a car.

The elderly woman has been airlifted to hospital after she was in collision with a blue Honda car on the A259 Bexhill Road at Bulverhythe, St Leonards, this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after noon.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “The woman was taken to King's College Hospital in London by air ambulance with a potentially life-threatening head injury.

“Road closures were still in operation around the scene at 1.30pm, resulting in traffic congestion in the area.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call Sussex Police on 101 quoting Operation Barbrook or email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk”
