An RNLI crew had to cut short their annual open day following a series of emergency calls.
The Eastbourne crew was showing members of the public their boats on Sunday when a number of calls came in.
The inshore boat was scrambled to look for a missing kayaker near Beachy Head, while the all-weather lifeboat went to assist two stricken yachts.
The kayakers were picked up at the western end of Eastbourne seafront.
Meanwhile, the all-weather crew was rescuing a lone yachtsman in a 40ft vessel which had lost engine power while entering Sovereign Harbour.
They then assisted the second yacht which had got into difficulty off Beachy Head. There were no injuries sustained in any of the three operations.
The volunteer Eastbourne crew is among the busiest in the country. To donate or volunteer visit www.eastbournernli.org.
