The cream of the county’s food businesses are putting their wares on show.
The Brighton and Hove Food and Drink Festival’s Autumn Harvest will run from September 5-15.
The festival organisation is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company which promotes good local food and drink to residents and visitors and supports the local food and hospitality industries.
The programme of events features the Big Sussex Market on New Road, with a minimum of 85% local businesses.
One-off events include an interactive Regency Food Tour, featuring period food, actors and musicians from the Brighton Early Musical Festival, the International Chef Exchange between Hotel du Vin Brighton and Restaurant Eendracht in Rotterdam, Brighton and Hove Restaurant Week with over 25 local eateries taking part, and the Brighton Mix Off cocktail competition finals at the Sea Life Centre in Marine Parade.
The finale of this year’s festival will be a Sussex and The World Market at Hove Lawns.
The weekend starts on September 13 with the Brighton Beer and Cider Festival, hosted in conjunction with Pub du Vin in Ship Street, featuring more than 20 breweries and cider producers, ranging from Hepworth and Harveys to new independent micro breweries such as Brighton Bier Co and Franklins.
Festival director Nick Mosley said: “This year’s autumn harvest is the biggest and most comprehensive festival we’ve ever created and is the culmination of over a year’s work by the festival team and the businesses, charities and volunteers we work with across the year.
“There’s a huge range of events and activities for all tastes and ages, with all of our anchor events at the weekends completely free of charge for everyone to enjoy.
“Delivering a free-access event of this size is quite a feat, so the festival directors would very much like to thank our sponsors, supporters and the 350 plus businesses who participate every year.
“We really look forward to inviting local residents and visitors to our city to enjoy the amazing food and drink offering we have.”
