After a pleasant meeting with a friend in Hove, I thought I would walk down Grand Avenue to get the bus home.
Unfortunately, although there is a pristine cycle lane (with not a cyclist in sight I might add) the same cannot be said about the state of the pavement.
I tripped on a slab which was sticking up, resulting in badly-bruised knees, a chipped tooth, a cut lip and scratched glasses.
Before any more money is spent on cycle lanes, the council should spend some on the pavements.
Pedestrians also pay tax, which may come as a surprise to some Brighton and Hove councillors.
May I thank the two kind women and one man who came to my aid, and also the taxi driver who took me home and saw me safely to my door.
