Over the past few days there has been a proliferation of tabard-clad charity workers, or “chuggers” as they are known, accosting people outside Peacocks in Station Road, Portslade, by a pedestrian crossing.
Every afternoon since they have set up camp there, there has been an increase of people crossing the road, ignoring the Highway Code, to escape this harassment.
As Station Road is a busy thoroughfare at the best of times, it will only be a matter of time before there is an accident or injury caused due to these people needlessly pestering passers-by.
They should volunteer their time in one of the many charity shops that proliferate the area, rather than irritating people in order to earn commission.
