Pat Murphy received a roaring 83rd birthday present from his family.
Daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Ian Foy, wanted to do something special to celebrate Mr Murphy’s birthday.
Ian Foy said: “Pat has always greatly admired Harleys. I contacted Shaw Harley-Davidson and they were happy to assist if we made a donation to their chosen charity.”
Mr Foy was given a number for the road captain of Hastings, who agreed to take Mr Murphy for a one-hour ride.
The family were asked to make a donation to Guide Dogs for the Blind.
They plan to raise £3,000 to fund a puppy for training and have asked that he be called Harley.
More than 20 riders descended upon Newhaven Heights to lead the birthday boy. Mrs Foy said: “It was an amazing sight to see and indeed hear.”
