It’s 1948. Peace reigns in Britain but in South East Asia soldiers are fighting a forgotten war against Communism.
So, who do the British military send over to help win the war against 5,000 Chinese Communists?
“I’ll tell you what,” says Major Giles Flack, “song and ruddy dance”.
Jason Sutton, better known as Miss Jason, leads a talented troop of fine young soldiers in Privates on Parade, an emotional, riproaring comedy at the Theatre Royal, Brighton.
He plays the cross-dressing role of Acting Captain Terri Dennis, as he storms his way through the jungle giving performances as Marlene Dietrich, Vera Lynn, Carmen Miranda and Noel Coward.
In his delicate hands, are a set of privates whose journey from boys to men is handled with care.
Privates on Parade is based on Peter Nichols’ own national service experiences while entertaining the troops.
