£5 million boost to cycling in South Down National Park welcomed
A transport minister has welcomed more than £5 million investment to boost cycling in the South Downs National Park.
In total 55km of new routes will be built across the protected area to encourage more people to travel on two wheels.
This includes improving access to the National Park from major rail stations About £3.8million of the money will come from the Government with £1.3million provided locally.
Transport minister Norman Baker, who is also MP for Lewes, said: “The South Downs National Park is a beautiful part of the country and I really cannot think of a better way of experiencing it than on a bike.”
