The first Meet Your Argus took place yesterday.
As part of our weekly series, our reporter visited Blatchington Road post office and encouraged readers to share their news.
Tony Preston, 67, from Portslade High Street, said: “It is important for people to know what is going on in their local area, and sharing news in the paper get things done.”
Alan Durban, 80, from Furze Croft, got in touch with The Argus last year about a Second World War photograph he had obtained. He was appealing for information about the men in the photograph and was approached by a reader who knew them.
He said: “It goes to show how important local newspapers are.”
People had differing opinions on the state of newspapers today.
John White, 63, from Hove, said: “I grew up buying the newspaper, and do so out of habit.
I enjoy reading The Argus and finding out what is going on in my area.”
Rosie McHugh, 23, from Shirley Drive, said: “I read The Argus online, but personally think it is important to read hard copies.”
The next Meet Your Argus will be on Thursday, August 29, at the post office in James Street.
