How I agree with CB Long of Worthing (Letters, August 15) regarding the state of the Sand Sculpture Festival in Brighton.

We decided to take our grandchildren, who were staying with us, telling them how fantastic two previous exhibitions had been.

We paid the £15 but when we entered we were in complete shock.

At first I thought it wasn’t the main exhibition. Discovering it was, I was appalled with the lack of exhibits, the state of the whole site and the fact that most of the exhibits were unrecognisable.

We spent a short time looking around. Before leaving, I did complain to someone who belonged to the company. When I told her what I thought of the exhibition compared with the excellence of previous years she said they were a new company and much smaller. No excuse at all! She indicated that other people enjoyed it.

I just wished I spent our time and money on taking the grandchildren somewhere more enjoyable during their stay.

I urge whoever employed these people to check out new companies because this has given sand sculptures a bad name and will deter people from coming back.
