Regarding I Purser’s comments on the ongoing Lewes Road “improvements” (Letters, August 12), I too am totally baffled as to what has actually been achieved.
I am saddened by the impact this scheme has had on local air quality, not to mention the months of disruption, congestion and mindless hold-ups.
The ominous signs of “progress” we have come to associate with roadworks were there from the start.
I too remember when we had two lanes of traffic flowing in and out of Brighton, whereas now we only have one.
My sincere hope is that, from this time on, the people in political power locally will not confuse cosmetic frivolity with the commonsense infrastructure we really need.
Some local advice for the Green Party: If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
