Western Road in Hove was closed and buses diverted while fire crews using a cherry picker tackle a blaze .

East Sussex Fire and Rescue confirmed there was a fire in a cavity wall in Lansdowne Place, Hove.

Three fire crews and a cherry picker are in use. Western Road is closed at the junction with the road.

A Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company statement said: “All eastbound services are diverted from Palmeira Square via Landsdowne Road and Montpellier Road resuming normal route at Waitrose and west bound services from Old Steine diverted via seafront and Holland Road.”

This picture was taken by Katherine from Walk in Wardrobe on Western Road and posted on Twitter. She said: "We have a fire in Western Road, keep away from this road."

She added: "It's all going on in Hove."

The road reopened at about 1.15pm.
