Thirty-seven people have been ordered out of a Sussex town since July 21.
A new dispersal order bans people from congregating on Eastbourne’s seafront or the town centre if they are deemed to be committing antisocial behaviour.
They are ordered out for 24 hours. If they refuse, or return within that period, they can be arrested.
Thirty-seven people have been dispersed, five have been arrested for breaching the dispersal order and one man has been charged with breaching a dispersal order.
Arden Lindo, 46, of no fixed address, appeared at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on August 9 and admitted breaching a dispersal order. He was given one day’s detention, fined £73 and ordered to pay costs of £85.
Sergeant Julian Williams said: “Since the dispersal order has been in place, officers and PCSOs have used the extra powers fairly and robustly when the circumstances dictate.
“Where appropriate, offenders are being arrested and kept in the cells to appear before the courts. This court result is one of a number of court cases impending for breaching the dispersal order.”
