A cyclist is critically ill after being struck by a car outside Butlins.

The 83-year-old man was riding a bike along Upper Bognor Road, Bognor, at 4.15pm on Saturday when he was struck by a car, a Sussex Police spokesman said.

The man, from Bognor, suffered very serious injuries and was taken to St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester.

The area outside the holiday park was cordoned off for a number of hours while forensic crash investigators examined the scene.

Sussex Police are appealing for information about the incident.
