Banger racing is not your average 40th birthday celebration.

But for James Edwards, from Hailsham, it was just the ticket for the milestone occasion.

Mr Edwards took to the track at Arlington in a blue and orange 740 Volvo estate provided by Cecil’s Rent a Rookie in Hailsham.

Back in the safety of the pits, Mr Edwards said: “Wow that was amazing.

“Trying out racing like this by borrowing a car gives you an experience of racing before you fully commit to taking up the sport.

“I had a great time and would like to thank Steve and the boys for a crazy night I shall never forget.”
