Boat owners are being urged to carry out vital safety checks to ensure their boats are safe from fire and carbon monoxide poisoning before heading back on the water this summer.
The Environment Agency is driving home the message as part of Boat Safety Week which runs from May 25-31.
On average there are three boat fires a week across the UK.
The Environment Agency’s Julian Kennard said: “We want users to enjoy the scenery, tranquillity and boating camaraderie, but above all we want them to stay safe.
“This is why we are working with the Boat Safety Scheme and Royal Berkshire and Surrey Fire and Rescue Services to alert our customers to the risks and offer advice to stay safe.
