I have just been to Press and Release at the Phoenix Art Gallery. Press and Release is a charming and engaging exhibition. I really enjoyed the tactile nature of delving into artists' books. There is such a wide range of styles and subjects I’m sure anyone would enjoy spending half an hour flicking through the rich material on offer there.

The books also use several different media – there are audio tracks to listen to and supporting videos. One of my favourite sets of books invited you to put your arms through fabric into a box and read the books through glass – I felt like I was examining evidence.

There is also a chance to create your own books – you are provided with paper, pens, glue and scissors to get creative with. I think this rounds off the exhibition really nicely as reading the artists’ books is so inspiring, it’s great to have a go yourself. You can also buy several of the artists’ books – they would make beautiful presents.

Heading off now to the second Meet The Media event hosted by Donatellos, then to the final performance of You Left Me in the Dark. The show has been going well so far and it’s been a pleasure to perform in the atmospheric Old Police Cells.

(Also, have just read a typo in the previous blog post. I definitely meant to say pubic hair. Not public. I don’t imagine that hair held any kind of elected office.)
