When flocks of sheep were introduced to our local green places, one of the reasons given for doing this was so that the sheep could munch away the unwanted growth, thus replacing the need for mechanical mowing.
This would still allow the wild flowers to flourish and is a train of thought I totally agree with.
So can someone in charge of this operation explain to me why, just when wild flowers are beginning to grow after recent unseasonably cold weather, sheep are now munching away all the new shoots?
Do we have special, highly-trained sheep which can distinguish the difference between unwanted growth and wild flowers?
If so, that would really be something, wouldn’t it?
But I think not. Is this another case of our Green council being out of touch with reality?
