In response to Conservative councillor Andrew Wealls’s letter (The Argus, May 17), the Tory vision of a co-op is, in reality, a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

True co-operatives are majority or wholly owned by members.

Under the Tory definition of mutuals and co-operatives, only a minority share would be in the hands of members; control would be with private shareholders.

This is just another attempt by Brighton and Hove Tories to privatise local services as they have in Barnet – not to hand control to members. Don’t be fooled.
