It was best feet forward for these walkers – as long as they were wearing wellies.
They were taking part in the High Weald Welly Walk and were seen off on their 2.7-mile trek by the mayor of Cuckfield, Lindy Elphick.
It was organised by the grounds team and PTA of Holy Trinity CE Primary School in the village to raise money for the charity Farm Africa.
Wendy Tracey-Roberts, one of the grounds team, said: “Each year, the school chooses a charity and this year it was Farm Africa, which organises its own welly walk. T hat's why we decided to do one. We were lucky with the weather.
"People were walking in sunshine and came from as far afield as Burgess Hill.”
Around 80 to 100 walkers joined the event on Saturday and raised £500.
