A teenager has warned of the dangers of binge-drinking after he was mugged following a night out.
Jordan Cox, 18, said he was “completely out of it” after spending Saturday evening drinking with friends.
He withdrew £40 from a cashpoint but then decided to “lie down” in Palmeira Square, Hove, before getting a taxi.
Jordan said it was 11.30pm when two men, who he described as being in their 20s, approached him.
He said they grabbed him by his shirt and lifted him up off the ground.
Throttled
He claimed one of the men throttled him as the other rummaged through his pockets and stole £40 from his wallet before running off.
Jordan, of Portslade, told The Argus: “I feared that |they would either stab or attack me.
“They quickly darted off and I was sat on a bench, still pretty clueless as to what had just happened.
“It was almost as if I didn’t realise how serious it was.”
Jordan now wants to warn others of the dangers of drinking.
He said: “I certainly don’t want to be going out again any time soon. They saw me as such an easy target.
“I won’t be walking alone again for the foreseeable future and that’s the sad reality of |it all.”
Jordan said he approached police officers, who were dealing with a fatal shooting, after his attack.
He was sat down and had his details taken before a relative was contacted to pick him up.
Mr Cox said he had not yet heard from the police, and is set to formally report the crime if he is not contacted.
