Resting place found for skull discovered on West Sussex beach
The 200-year-old skull discovered by a seven-year-old on a beach has found a new resting place.
Beachcomber Sawyer Clarke-Smith found the human skull in the sand at West Wittering while out walking with his grandparents.
Experts from Chichester District Council believe the skull might be that of a French male prisoner or a soldier at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.
The skeleton has now been buried in the churchyard of St Peter and St Paul in West Wittering during an interment service attended by Bath primary school pupil Sawyer.
