The A27 eastbound at Falmer Hill is closed after a diesel and kerosene spillage.
A fuel tanker lost its prop shaft after it sheered off at around 11.45am today (May 20).
The prop shaft slightly damaged the tanker causing a small kerosene leakage.
The shaft also struck a car and pierced its fuel tank. Around 80 litres of diesel is sitting on the carriageway and the Texaco garage forecourt.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue and the Environment Agency are at the scene with foam and sand.
