I am used to drivers’ poor lane discipline these days and their obvious reluctance to move over to the left hand lane when it is clear.
However, my experience a few days ago took the biscuit.
I followed a car from Rottingdean traffic lights towards Brighton Marina which stayed in the outer lane throughout the journey.
The inside lane was clear and, for most of the journey, it travelled at significantly less than the speed limit.
Once we got on to the road down to the marina, it finally moved over to the inside lane (reserved for traffic turning left into the supermarket) and then when at the roundabout in the marina promptly ignored the direction signs and went straight across the lanes and finally turned right towards the casino.
Not too surprising, you may think – but this was a police car with two police officers inside...
