I know we can blame the Green council of Brighton and Hove for many things but really, Councillor Pissaridou (The Argus, May 8), you cannot blame it for the attempted land-grab of Bhasvic field by the Government.
Goldsmid Green councillor Ruth Buckley has been totally supportive throughout of the residents’ fight to preserve our wonderful field and have it registered as a village green.
According to The Argus of May 4, Green councillors specifically instructed council officers that, in discussions with the Government over possible sites for an academy, Bhasvic field should be excluded from consideration.
Despite this it would appear that council officers included the site behind the backs of our elected councillors.
Surely officers’ heads should be rolling to the exit, otherwise why have elections?
Negotiations with the Government must be reopened with our councillors in charge.
What was that we heard so much about? Was it “localism”, or was I dreaming?
Mrs M Jameson, Addison Road, Hove
